Bollywood star Akshay Kumar has finally broken his silence on the uncertainty shrouding Hera Pheri 3, following the shocking departure of veteran actor Paresh Rawal from the beloved comedy franchise. The move has left fans and the film's future in a state of flux.
In a recent interview while promoting an upcoming project, Kumar addressed the swirling speculation with a hopeful outlook. When questioned about the ongoing controversy, he chose to remain positive about the film's prospects.
A Hopeful Stance
Akshay Kumar, who is not only a lead actor but also a producer for the film, shared his optimism despite the recent turmoil. 'Whatever is happening is happening in front of you. Keeping my fingers crossed. I hope everything goes well,' he stated. Reinforcing his faith in the project, he added, 'Everything will go well only. I know, for sure.'These remarks are Kumar's first public comments since Rawal's decision to exit the film, a development that reportedly stunned him and co-star Suniel Shetty. Fans have been vocal on social media, pleading with Rawal to reprise his iconic role as the eccentric landlord, Baburao Ganpatrao Apte.
The Controversy Unpacked
The situation escalated when Paresh Rawal announced his departure from the much-anticipated sequel on X (formerly Twitter). He was quick to clarify that his decision was not due to any creative disagreements with director Priyadarshan. 'I wish to put it on record that my decision to step away from Hera Pheri 3 was not due to creative differences. I REITERATE THAT THERE ARE NO CREATIVE DISAGREEMENT WITH THE FILM MAKER. I hold immense love, respect, and faith in Mr. Priyadarshan the film director,' the 69-year-old actor posted.Following his exit, reports emerged that Akshay Kumar's production house had issued a legal notice to Rawal, seeking 25 crore in damages for breach of contract. In response, Rawal provided an update on May 25, stating, 'My lawyer, Ameet Naik, has sent an appropriate response regarding my rightful termination and exit. Once they read my response, all issues will be laid to rest.'
The Hera Pheri franchise, which began in 2000, revolves around the hilarious misadventures of two tenants, Raju (Akshay Kumar) and Shyam (Suniel Shetty), and their landlord Baburao (Paresh Rawal). The trio's impeccable comic timing and on-screen chemistry have earned the films a cult following over the years. With the third installment now facing a significant hurdle, the loyal fanbase is left hoping for a resolution that brings their favourite characters back to the big screen.
