The French Riviera witnessed a dazzling display of glamour and quick wit as Alia Bhatt graced the closing ceremony of the 78th Cannes Film Festival. After making a striking red carpet debut in a vintage Schiaparelli cream gown, Bhatt captivated onlookers once again, this time in a custom Gucci creation that beautifully blended Italian luxury with Indian tradition, though it wasn't just the outfit that had everyone talking.

A Nod to Heritage: The Gucci Saree-Inspired Gown

As the global brand ambassador for Gucci, Alia Bhatt chose a stunning saree-inspired gown by the Italian luxury brand for her appearance. The nude-hued ensemble was a marvel of craftsmanship, featuring embroidered crystals in Gucci's iconic GG Monogram pattern, creating a shimmering jaal effect. Styled by Rhea Kapoor, this look is being hailed as Gucci's first creation embracing the Indian silhouette.

The outfit boasted a plunging blouse, a sleek straight skirt, and a gracefully draped dupatta-like element, all adorned with Swarovski crystals from head to toe. Bhatt complemented the intricate gown with soft, flowing waves in her hair and subtle makeup, allowing the outfit's details to shine. Sharing her joy, the actor posted photos on Instagram with the caption, 'Happy, sunny day at #Cannes2025'.

The Unforgettable Pose

Beyond the sheer elegance of her attire, it was a spontaneous moment of poise that truly stole the spotlight. Actor Alia Bhatt's pose with her hand around her neck on the red carpet wasn't a rehearsed gesture but a swift reaction to an impending wardrobe malfunction.

A video that quickly circulated on social media revealed the truth behind her now-famous pose. As Bhatt navigated the red carpet, her exquisite necklace from Malabar Gold and Diamonds began to unhook and nearly slipped off. The footage captures the actor deftly catching the ornament and seamlessly incorporating the save into a graceful pose, preventing an awkward moment. The stunning piece, featuring rare old European-cut diamonds in rustic gold with an oxidised, vintage Victorian finish, was co-created with Rhea Kapoor and reimagined by Mine Diamonds.

Social media users were quick to applaud Bhatt's composure. 'Credits given where it's due. She did it pretty gracefully,' commented one user. Another shared, 'Yeah, she wasn't nervous at all. I loved this new look of hers'. One impressed observer noted, 'Oh that's why her hand was there, i thought she was trying a new pose and she absolutely nailed it no doubt in it'.
