Dhanush Ignites D54: A New Thriller with a Stellar Cast Commences Production

Fresh off the success of Kuberaa, multi-faceted actor Dhanush has officially begun shooting for his 54th film, tentatively titled D54. This highly anticipated project, directed by Vignesh Raja of "Por Thozhil" fame, promises to be an intense, high-octane action entertainer that blends elements of crime, thriller, and emotional drama. The film's official launch took place today, July 10, 2025, with a traditional pooja ceremony.


A Powerful Partnership

D54 is being bankrolled by Ishari K. Ganesh of Vels Film International, a production banner known for delivering meaningful and entertaining cinema. The collaboration between Dhanush and Vignesh Raja, whose previous work garnered critical acclaim, has already set expectations soaring. Vels Film International marked the commencement of filming with an intriguing teaser poster featuring Dhanush amidst a burning cotton field, accompanied by the tagline: "Sometimes staying dangerous is the only way to stay alive."

Adding to the excitement, the film boasts a stellar cast from across South India. Premalu star Mamitha Baiju has been roped in as the female lead, starring opposite Dhanush. The ensemble also includes popular Malayalam actors Jayaram and Suraj Venjaramoodu, alongside Tamil star K.S. Ravikumar, in pivotal roles. This diverse cast promises a rich cinematic experience for audiences.

In a noteworthy display of camaraderie, Dhanush reportedly allowed his Rs 4 crore set, originally built for D54, to be used by Thalapathy Vijay for a song shoot in his upcoming film Jana Nayagan. While unconfirmed, this gesture is being celebrated by fans as a testament to the mutual respect between these two Tamil cinema powerhouses.
