In a touching display of sisterly love, Bollywood superstar Kareena Kapoor Khan shared a heartfelt and sombre birthday message for her elder sister, Karisma Kapoor, who turned 51 on Wednesday. The wish comes just two weeks after the sudden demise of Karisma's ex-husband, businessman Sunjay Kapur, marking a challenging period for the Kapoor family.
A Sister's Unwavering Support
Taking to Instagram, Kareena posted what she called her "most favourite picture" of Karisma alongside her husband, Saif Ali Khan. Her first social media post since Kapur's death, the message was a powerful tribute to her sister's resilience.Kareena wrote, "This is my most favourite picture of you both. To the strongest and the bestest girl in the universe... It's been a tough year for us ... but you know what ... as they say tough times don't last ... the toughest sisters do... To my Sister, my mother, my best friend ... Happy birthday My Lolo @therealkarismakapoor." The heartfelt note quickly garnered loving responses from fans and industry colleagues, including Malaika Arora and Sonam Kapoor.

A Year of Family Trials
The birthday celebrations are set against a backdrop of sorrow. Sunjay Kapur, with whom Karisma has two children, Samaira and Kiaan, passed away from a heart attack on June 12 while playing polo in London. The family, including Kareena and Saif, flew to Delhi to attend the final rites and stand by Karisma's side. This unfortunate event follows another difficult incident earlier this year when Saif Ali Khan was injured during a robbery attempt at their Mumbai home, an event that left the family shaken. Kareena's post alludes to these testing times, emphasising the unbreakable bond she shares with her sister.
Karisma and Sunjay Kapur were married in 2003 and parted ways in 2016. Despite their separation, the family came together to support their children through this immense loss, showing a united front in the face of adversity. Kareena's message serves as a poignant reminder of the strength found in family during life's most difficult moments.
