In a stunning development that has taken Bollywood by surprise, Ranveer Singh walks out of Don 3, putting one of the most anticipated films of 2026 in flux.

Reports surfaced on Tuesday that the actor, fresh off the massive success of Dhurandhar, has chosen to step away from Farhan Akhtar's high-profile action thriller, putting the producers back on the hunt for a new Don.

While Don 3 had been gearing up for productionmdashwith earlier reports saying Ranveer had begun prepping for intense action sequences and discussions were ongoing about co-stars and antagonistsmdashthe latest buzz now suggests plans have shifted dramatically.

According to industry insiders, Ranveer's decision to leave Don 3 is largely driven by his desire to diversify his career after Dhurandhar's blockbuster run.

A source told Pinkvilla that Ranveer doesn't want to risk being cast in another gangster franchise so soon, especially while Dhurandhar remains one of the biggest hits of the year.

'With Dhurandhar's massive success, Singh is very clear about the kind of films he wants to do next. He is keen to collaborate with filmmakers like Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Lokesh Kanagaraj, and Atlee, and at the same time, he doesn't want to be seen in back-to-back gangster films,' the insider explained.

The report also revealed that Ranveer is now actively working to prepone the schedule of his upcoming zombie thriller, Pralay, with director Jai Mehta, personally aligning dates to take that project forward quickly.

Meanwhile, the Don 3 team is not ready to shelve the project. With the film still aiming to hit the floors by late January 2026, producers have reportedly started searching for a new lead actor to step into the iconic role of Don.

Originally, Don 3 was announced with Ranveer Singh replacing Shah Rukh Khan's legendary Don, and Kriti Sanon had been confirmed as the leading lady.

However, multiple casting changes mdash including key roles like antagonist mdash have added uncertainty to the production's timeline.

At press time, no official statement has come from Ranveer or the Don 3 production house.

However, this development marks one of the most dramatic shifts in a major Bollywood project in months mdash and fans across the industry are abuzz with speculation on who might next don the mantle of Don.
