The teaser introduces Suriya in a dual role, going by his birth name, Saravanan. He masterfully portrays a man leading two lives: a dedicated advocate by day and a formidable saviour by night. The teaser, which also features Trisha Krishnan, has already set the internet ablaze with its high-octane action and cultural references.

A Tale of Two Personas

The teaser for Karuppu opens with a powerful voiceover, setting a tone of reverence for a fierce deity. We are then introduced to Suriya in two distinct forms. One is Saravanan, a lawyer in a crisp white uniform, who hints at having an alias. The other is a more menacing figure, clad in black with a sickle in hand, ready to unleash his violent side. The fast-paced visuals deliberately blur the lines, leaving audiences to wonder if this is one man with a double life or two separate characters played by the same actor. Adding a nostalgic touch, the teaser cleverly references a beloved scene from Suriya's 2005 blockbuster, Ghajini.

Suriya's return to the courtroom after his powerful performance in Jai Bhim is a noteworthy element. However, it is his transformation into a black-shirted, black-dhoti-clad man in a rural setting that truly stands out. This avatar draws a direct parallel to the guardian deity Karuppu Samy, infusing the character with a rich cultural flavour. The clever nod to the iconic watermelon scene from Ghajini further enhances the viewing experience. With its vibrant visuals contrasting rural and urban landscapes, RJ Balaji, known for his work on LKG and Mookuthi Amman, promises a cinematic treat that blends action with mass appeal.
