Tiger 3 has opened up worldwide commercial success while garnering mixed reactions from critics. Emraan Hashmi plays the role of antagonist Aatish in the film, and right up until the release, his character was not promoted as widely. Emraan Hashmi revealed the reason behind this in a recent interview.
When he was initially roped in to play the negative part in a franchise that boasted stars like Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan, and Katrina Kaif, Emraan was hesitant to pick it up. It was not insecurity that he felt however, he considered not doing the film initially.
Owing to the film's popularity and star appeal, Emraan Hashmi had some reservations about doing the film. However, everything vanished as he read the script, and he found the character of Aatish to be intense and engaging. He felt that there was so much room to explore the complexities of the character by delving deeper into his performance.
He said, "There was never a time when I felt insecure about not getting my place in the sun. Aditya Chopra told me that we will reveal you at a time when it's right." The reason behind not giving his character much screen space in the trailer was also part of the strategy to keep his presence in the film an element of mystery. Rightly so, in the film, Emraan's character comes out as menacing and intense, with a tint of mystery to him.

His rugged look with the gray beard and the black overcoat that he wears for the most part in the film just add to his enigma. On top of that, his dedicated performance brings out the character of Aatish in full swing.
Emraan Hashmi has played a lot of gray characters in his career in films like Once Upon a Time in Mumbai, Jannat, and Awarapan. However, with Tiger 3, he donned an entire villianous avatar and managed to give it some nuance.
Tiger 3 was released on November 12 and has been enjoying a good run at the box office. Directed by Maneesh Sharma, the film stars Salman Khan, Katrina Kaif, Emraan Hashmi, and Kumud Mishra. It also has a cameo by Shah Rukh Khan and Hrithik Roshan.
