Om Raut`s Adipurush saw a magnanimous opening on the first day of its release. The movie has already entered the 300-crore club as it has touched almost Rs. 340 crore at the box office. Om Raut reacts to the backlash against Adipurush
In a recent interview, the director opened up about the mixed reviews Adipurush has been receiving from fans and movie critics. While some call it an epic narration of the Ramayana, others are disappointed with the dialogue and casting.
Raut said, "Ramayana is so large that it is impossible for anybody to understand; if they say that they understand Ramayana, they are fools or they are lying, one of the two. Number two, whatever Ramayan that we have seen before on television, something that I have grown up watching is a much larger format."

He further added, "What is Adipurush? We are not calling it Ramayan. We are calling it Adipurush because it is one section within the Ramayan. It is Yuddha Kaand that we are trying to show. Again, I will say, "That is a small portion within that Yuddha Kaand."
Co-writer Manoj Muntashir reacts to criticism
In a very crucial part of the movie, Devdutta Nage, who portrays Bajrang, is seen delivering some absurd dialogue. The film received heavy criticism for the same. The dialogue was along the lines of, "Kapda tere baap ka, aag tere baap ki, tel tere baap ka, jalegi bhi teri baap ki."

Reacting to the criticism, Muntashir said, "It is not an error. It is a very meticulous thought process that has gone into writing the dialogues for Bajrang Bali and for all the characters. We have made it simple because we have to understand one thing: if there are multiple characters in a film, they cannot all speak the same language. There has to be a kind of diversion, a kind of division."
Adipurush box office position
Despite the backlash and mixed reviews, the Prabhas-Kriti Sanon starrer has entered the 300-crore club. Adipurush collected over Rs. 340 crore over the weekend at the global box office. While it is doing decently well in India, the movie has been banned in Nepal over the Mata Sita controversy.
The modern-day version of the Ramayana is released in five different languages: Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, and Malayalam.
