It is safe to say that Alia Bhatt is Bollywood`s most successful and leading actresses. With making her Hollywood debut, the actress seems to be on a global domination mission. Give her any role and she will ace it. Be it Gangu in Gangubai Kathiawadi or Sehmat in Raazi, she gets into the character, so much so, that it makes us feel like we`re living her journey. Speaking of her accomplishments, Alia recently added one more feather to her cap by becoming one of 100 most influential people from the Hindi film industry by achieving the TIME Magazine 100 Impact Awards.
Taking it to Instagram, Alia Bhatt shared a, excerpt of her conversation with TIME Magazine where she got beyond candid about her process of imbibing a character and shouldering two successful female-led Bollywood movies. Check out her post here.
Speaking of the success that she has tasted over the recent years with some of her blockbuster movies, Alia said, "I`ve had some of my biggest releases this year. And I’ve found myself behaving very, very differently with each release—something that I was very surprised by. Way more calm, way more collected, way more resigning to my destiny and to fate.”
When asked about her perspective on modern women, she said they (including her) still struggle with being wrong, selfish, or flawed. Further elaborating, she told TIME, “We have a certain societal norm in which we have to be put together, we have to be right, we have to be quiet, we have to be simple, we have to be soft-spoken, we have to be well-dressed,” she says. “We have to be so many things. Just bringing everything: the vulnerability, the jealousy, the lows, the highs, the real things that we are afraid of even thinking. If you bring that to the forefront on the big screen, then the person watching you from the audience will feel like, ‘OK, I’m not the only one.’”
She was then asked about her learnings over her decade-long career. On which, the mommy-to-be replied, “I’m not so overcautious with going wrong. Just have a little bit of fun and surrender a bit to the process.”
Alia Bhatt becomes the second Indian actress to feature in TIME100 Impact Awards. Before her, Deepika Padukone was the first ever Indian celebrity to be featured on the same. We`re proud to have two powerful and beautiful women redefining Bollywood and taking over the world, one movie at a time.
