Bobby Deol to perform Ravan Dahan at Delhi Ramlila on Dussehra 2025
As the air fills with festive fervour and the scent of marigolds—and anticipation—one of India’s grandest Dussehra traditions is getting a Bollywood twist.
This year, Bollywood actor Bobby Deol is set to play a starring role in Delhi’s celebrated Ramlila by performing Ravana Dahan (the burning of Ravana’s effigy) at none other than the Red Fort grounds on October 2, 2025.
A Bollywood Star Joins an Ancient Tradition
For generations, the Luv Kush Ramlila Committee has hosted dramatic re-enactments of Lord Rama’s epic battle against Ravana — culminating in the symbolic slaying of evil through fire.
This year, they’ve extended a special invitation to Bobby Deol, hoping that his presence will take the spectacle to new heights.
In a video message shared by the organisers, the Ba***ds of Bollywood actor declared with excitement: “Dilli ki Ramlila mein iss baar mai aa raha hai… Toh milte hain Dussehra par."
That sense of excitement is echoed by the event’s organisers. According to Arjun Kumar, president of the Ramlila committee, “Bobby Deol’s participation is expected to make this Dussehra even more spectacular and memorable.”
Delhi’s Luv Kush Ramlila is already among India’s grandest mythological pageants, fusing age-old narratives with contemporary flair and drawing crowds from across the capital and beyond.
With Bobby Deol now in the mix, organisers expect record turnouts — thousands, perhaps even lakhs, gathering to witness his rendition of the climactic moment: the burning of Ravana.
Why This Matters
The inclusion of a mainstream film star in such a traditional event signals how India’s cultural festivals are evolving—bridging myth, history, performance, and popular culture.
For Bobby Deol, this appearance is also symbolic of his renaissance in cinema. After pivotal roles in Race 3 and the MX Player hit Aashram, and his menacing persona in Animal, this new role places him at the crossroads of artistry and devotion.
In many ways, his presence reinforces how storytelling, ritual, and community come together during Dussehra — when people from all walks of life gather to witness the triumph of good over evil.
And for Delhi, the Red Fort becomes, for a night, a dramatic amphitheatre of hope and spectacle.
