A still from the Dunki starring Shah Rukh Khan
The trailer for Dunki is finally here. After showing a glimpse into its world with the previous three drops from the film, the trailer gives an even more detailed peek into the story and emotions. It is the lively story of four people from Punjab who want to go to London but struggle with learning English.
Starring Vicky Kaushal, Taapsee Pannu, Boman Irani, and Shah Rukh Khan, the film is directed by Rajkumar Hirani. He is back after his last film, Sanju, which was released in 2018. Meanwhile, this is the third release of the year for Shah Rukh Khan after the blockbuster success of Pathaan and Jawan.
The story is set in Laltu and tells the story of Balli, Baggu, Sukhi, and Manu. Sukhi, played by Vicky, has a funny scene right at the beginning of the trailer in a trademark Hirani style. Standing in a classroom learning English, Vicky says, "I understand noun, pronoun, adjective, verb, adverb, conjunction, colon, semicolon, comma, and full stop."

Manu plays the love interest of Hardy, Shah Rukh Khan. She is seen fighting for his character when he is supposedly made fun of for not knowing English. The trailer then moves ahead in establishing certain conflicts, which drive the four to take certain drastic steps by going into London via an illegal route. There`s gunfire, some chasing and crossing borders—all with a dose of laughter.
Then, the Dunki trailer shifts timelines to establish a much older Shah Rukh Khan as he prepares to run for a race. He reveals that he will have to end what he started, and the trailer ends.
Dunki is written jointly by Abhijat Joshi, Rajkumar Hirani, and Kanika Dhillon. It is edited and directed by Rajkumar Hirani, with music done by Pritam. The lyrics of its songs are by Javed Akhtar and Swanand Kirkire.
Dunki is set to release on December 21 as it clashes with the Prabhas-starrer Salaar, which is an action-thriller directed by Prashanth Neel. The clash is going to be a big one, and it remains to be seen if Shah Rukh Khan will go for the third blockbuster of the year.
