Asha Bhosle passes away at 92
It is the end of an era as Indian cinema loses a gem. Legendary singer Asha Bhosle died in Mumbai at 92 on Sunday. She suffered a cardiac arrest on Saturday and was immediately rushed to the hospital.
Dr. Pratit Samdani at Breach Candy Hospital confirmed the heartbreaking news and said, “She was admitted to the hospital around 7 pm on Saturday following a decline in her condition due to chest infection and fatigue and was under close observation in the ICU. She was brought in in a critical state, and despite all efforts, she succumbed to multi-organ failure at 12 noon today.”
Asha Bhosle`s funeral and last rites will be conducted on Monday, April 13.

Talking to the reporters outside the hospital, the late singer`s son, Anand Bhosle, said, “She passed away today. Those who wish to pay their last respects can visit her residence tomorrow at 11 am. The last rites will be performed tomorrow at 4 pm at Shivaji Park.”

Asha Ji was rushed to Breach Candy Hospital after she complained of a severe chest infection, and soon followed a cardiac arrest, as revealed by her granddaughter, Zanai Bhosle, on X (formerly Twitter).

She wrote, "My grandmother, Asha Bhosle, due to extreme exhaustion and suffering a chest infection, has been admitted to the hospital, and we request you to value our privacy. Treatment is ongoing, and hopefully everything will be well, and we shall update you positively."
Around 50 police and security personnel have been appointed in charge of the security outside the hospital. Security arrangements have also been made for the funeral from Asha Bhosle`s residence to Dadar`s Shivaji Park to manage the anticipated crowd.
A senior police officer said, “Around 50 police personnel have been deployed near Breach Candy Hospital to maintain law and order. We are prepared to ensure that patients at the hospital do not face any inconvenience.”
Celebs mourn Asha Bhosle`s death
Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to X and paid a heartfelt homage to the late singer and recalled some cherishable interactions with her.
He wrote, "Deeply saddened by the passing of Asha Bhosle Ji, one of the most iconic and versatile voices India has ever known. Her extraordinary musical journey, spanning decades, enriched our cultural heritage and touched countless hearts across the world. Be it her soulful melodies or vibrant compositions, her voice carried timeless brilliance. I’ll always cherish the interactions I’ve had with her."

"My condolences to her family, admirers, and music lovers. She will continue to inspire generations, and her songs will forever echo in people’s lives," he added.
Several Indian celebrities, politicians, and entrepreneurs also paid a heartfelt tribute on social media and called it "end of an era."
Shah Rukh Khan, Karan Johar, Shreya Ghoshal, Sanjay Dutt, Anupam Kher, AR Rehman, Gautam Adani, Shilpa Rao, Vicky Kaushal, President Draupadi Murmu, and Home Minister Amit Shah, among others, mourned her death.
Asha Bhosle, who entertained generations together with her magical voice, transformed the way India perceived music. Her ability to add expressions to any song continues to inspire musicians across borders.
