Nana Patekar death: Goa Police files ‘unnatural death’; to begin investigation
“October 08, 2026”, a dark day in the film industry. The news of Nana Patekar’s death broke out and it left everyone in shock, including his friends, fans and co-stars from the industry. His funeral took place late at night on the same date but now an update has come in Nana Patekar’s death case.
The “Welcome” actor’s death has prompted an official police inquiry in Goa, with the Panaji Police registering an Unnatural Death (UD) case to establish the circumstances surrounding his demise. The actor, who was 75, died on October 8, 2026, after reportedly suffering a suspected cardiac arrest at his residence in Dona Paula, Goa. The investigation is aimed at determining the exact cause of death and ing the events leading up to it.
For the unversed, the registration of an unnatural death case is part of a medico-legal process and does not, by itself, indicate foul play. Police are expected to examine the available medical records and other relevant details before reaching a conclusion.
According to the police record, the National Award-winning actor was brought dead to the casualty ward of Manipal Hospital, Bambolim, from his residence at Ocean Park, Dona Paula. ANI reported that further enquiry into the matter is currently in progress, led by PSI Nitin Naik. Dr Shekhar Salkar, Chief of the Oncology Department at Manipal Hospital, had told ANI on Thursday, “They shifted him to our hospital at around 4:20 or 4:30 am. We also tried our best, but he was brought dead. Then we had to file a police case because there`s an MLC (medico-legal case).”
