Pushpa 2 Was Supposed To Be A Netflix Web Series?
After its monstrous success, Pushpa 2: The Rule has already entered the 500 crore box office club worldwide, leaving behind Shah Rukh Khan`s Jawan. The Allu Arjun-Rashmika Mandanna starrer has become one of the highest grossers of 2024.
For the uninitiated, Pushpa 2 is the sequel to the Telugu action drama Pushpa: The Rise, released in 2021. Helmed by Sukumar, it also features Fahadh Faasil as the lead antagonist.
Did you know that the original plan for Faasil was to become a Netflix series? Released on December 5, Pushpa 2 has been minting big numbers at the box office.
In an interview with Cue Studios, the 42-year-old South Indian actor revealed that the Allu Arjun starrer was supposed to be one film with his character`s introduction set after the interval. “There was no Pushpa 1 or Pushpa 2, only one Pushpa. He narrated the police station scene to me first, the interval, and then my character’s part," Fahadh mentioned.

As per the Aavesham actor, the director Sukumar`s plan was to divide the film into two parts, with a possibility of a third installment as well. For the uninformed, the second part of the film has already cued Pushpa 3.

Fahadh Faasil further revealed, “Initially, the concept of red sandalwood…Sukku sir was supposed to make a web series for Netflix, which means so much content is there that much research material must be there. Even when I met him recently, he said there was a scope for Part 3, too."
Recalling how the director narrated the Pushpa script to him, Faasil added, “He wanted to tell the story of a person who has no identity and who achieves everything in life. He fulfills his mother’s dream and overcomes childhood hardships; power is the main thing, right! This person overcomes all of these… then comes along a person who reminds him of all his issues again. So, he wanted to end Pushpa 1, where it all began. Then we can move to the second part."
Pushpa 2 released in cinemas on December 5 and has already collected over 500 crores across the globe.
