I would like to showcase the different sides of me through my work: Shraddha Kapoor
- Team RadioCity
Team Radio City caught up with B-Town's pretty sweetheart, Shraddha Kapoor who spoke to us about her upcoming film, 'Baaghi'. Read on the excerpts from our super fun chat with her.A fan recently has commented stating Shraddha is not an actor but a character. No matter which film is she in, she plays the character. Your comments?Frankly, that is how I wish to entertain the audience. As an actor, I would like to showcase the different sides of me through my work and I feel that is what an audience looks for in an actor. So that will remain my endeavor. You are famously known for making movies that cater to the youth. Is this a conscious decision? When I act in the films I choose, I don't keep a particular set of the audience in mind. I do the films which I feel can connect with the audience. For instance, I believe a lot of kids in particular saw ABCD 2 and loved the film. I agree that there is a lot of connect with the youth, but I feel happy to know that I can reflect their lives through my work.Let's talk about Tiger Shroff. Tiger and you have known each other since school. Tell us about him as a friend and a co-star now. What is the difference?Yes, we were in the same school, i.e American School of Bombay. I started first with the Jamnabai Narsee School and then my parents later shifted me to ASB. So Tiger was there from the very beginning. It's funny how we've become co-stars now because we used to attend the same birthday parties together and even participate in fancy-dress competitions. Infact, I used to always beat him in dancing. Now it's the other way around. winks But it's amazing to see Tiger being so flexible. I think it's the first time for Hindi cinema that an Indian actor possesses such a physique and flexibility which is required while performing heavy duty action flicks. So how was Tiger in school? Was he a bully or is he older than you?No, I am elder to him by a few years. We never spoke much in school. But I somehow found out through an interview that he had a crush on me. I was amused then, because he never used to speak to me at all. However I remember choreographing him on Hrithik's 'Ek Pal Ka Jeena' for our Annual Day function which got us interacting as we both love Hrithik Roshan. So the fact that we knew each other from before kind of helped us co-ordinate better while filming 'Baaghi'.So how intriguing is it to shoot an action scene when he is around? Do you feel intimated?I was always intrigued to watch Tiger's preparation before filming an action sequence. The kind of dedication and interest he puts in his work always got me curious and observant and I would try to imply it.In your family, are all of you fitness conscious?Only Dad is. He keeps a check on what he eats. Fortunately for me since I'm more like my Mom, I take the liberty of being on the slimmer side. But I cannot stay without eating something sweet. I like chocolates, cakes, muffin etc. Though, whenever I get the chance, I do work out. But somehow, I can never curb the foodie in me. Tiger on the contrary, just smells the food. Once he made me gobble up an entire cupcake which I did thankfully, it being bite-sized.From the rushes of the trailer, the movie seems to offer action of International standards. Your take.Well I'm equally excited to watch the movie because Tiger has delivered a never-seen-before kind of action with this film. I have a few action scenes too. But what Tiger has done in this movie will be a treat for the audience to watch for. This is the first time the audience has gotten to see the hotter side of you. Was it difficult shooting for it?Well, we were shooting for the song in Krabi which is a beautiful place. So that complimented my look very well. Also, I feel I had not done something like this before, so why not explore it. So I was very comfortable while doing it. Also, the song happens at a very important moment in the film. So you'll know when you see the movie. smilesSo what was challenging for you while making this film? For me the only challenge was performing action. But Sabbir sir and Tiger were extremely supportive. They let me do how much ever I could try and then would say that had I did it so well without training. Had I been trained as a child, I would have been a pro at it.You love dancing don't you? Have you sought formal training for it?Yes, I used to go for classes to Ashley Lobo and Shaimak sir. But I wasn't disciplined or consistent at it. As in I would attend them for a few weeks and discontinue. I wish I had stuck to it, then maybe I would have been a much better dancer. Though I love doing cardio with EDM playing at a blast. laughs. I think I had to undertake intense training while doing 'ABCD 2' which eventually helped me for 'Baaghi'. So I was much more synchronized for my songs in 'Baaghi'.You are related to the Mangeshkar sisters? Have they heard your songs?Yes, they are family. Ive been wanting to meet them for a while but I just don't find the time. Especially Lata ji, she is my idol in music. They've been in touch with Mom. So Mom told me that Lata ji conveyed it to her saying that Shraddha sings well. That was very motivating for me.You've also sang a song for this film. Tell us the story behind that.Yes, so I've sang this song called 'Sab Tera' which I would not have done had it not been for Sabbir sir. The song is extremely high pitched and I was very nervous about doing it. But Sabbir sir encouraged me to record for it and that's how the song happened. We wrap the interview with Shraddha by throwing in some quickies. One must-visit place for food in Mumbai Brittania and Co. at Ballard Estate. They offer amazing Parsi food. The last time you ate a Vada pav Very recently. Infact, Vada Pav is a part of my diet. winksYour fitness tip Have your dinner early so that it gets well digested at night. One thing you learnt from Tiger Shroff DisciplineYour best memory with Lata ji It has to be during my visit to her in London when I was 9. The time we spent together then, is a memory I fondly cherish. An exciting experience while shooting for 'Baaghi' It has to be during the moments when we cracked up while shooting something intense. And what many people do not know is that Tiger has a very good sense of humour. He can have you in splits quite effortlessly.Your take on the Maharashtra drought issue It is very sad that we are facing such a situation. I think we must feel grateful that we do not fall short of food and water. Also, in small little ways we can do our bit and save water. While washing utensils or brushing your teeth, do not keep the tap running. Also, pour as much water in the glass as per your need.
