Maidaan Actress Priyamani On Being Trolled For Her Intercaste Marriage: "It Did Affect Me But..."

With South Indian cinema and the Hindi film industry having a seamless blend, Priyamani finds her way to showcasing her spectacular talent in Bollywood movies like Maidaan.
Her latest release was a sports drama based on Indian football coach and manager Syed Abdul Rahim, as essayed by Ajay Devgn. The film was released on April 12 in cinemas and continues to receive positive responses.
Priyamani, who is currently basking in the success of Maidaan, sat down with a leading entertainment portal and opened up about one of the toughest phases of her life.
Priyamani on being trolled for her intercaste marriage
While promoting her latest release, Maidaan, the actress recalled the time when she was brutally and unnecessarily trolled for her interfaith marriage with her husband, Mustafa Raj.The Jawan actress married the popular industrialist in 2017. However, it wasn't a bed of roses for her. She became the most talked-about person on the internet as fans and netizens trolled her for marrying into a Muslim family.
In her recent chat with news portal Galatta, the actress spoke about the time when she was criticized for having an intercaste marriage and whether it affected her.

She said, 'To be honest, it did affect me. Not only me per se, but my family also, especially my father and mother. But I have to say that my husband stood by me like a rock. He said, 'Look, whatever happens, I will let everything come to me first. But all I would say is, Hold my hand and be with me through every step."

Crediting Mustafa Raj for being a rock-solid supporter, Priyamani further added, 'I am very happy that I got such an understanding and strong partner. He knows how to tackle everything.'
She even spoke about her parents and mentioned, 'We took care of everything and didn't let it hinder my parents either. We just asked them not to bother much because it's us at the end of the day. Their blessings and prayers have taken us a long way.'
On the work front
Priyamani was last seen in Maidaan alongside Ajay Devgn. The sports-drama, based on the life of India's football coach and manager, Syed Abdul Rahim, depicts his hardships and journey of making his country proud.The Anil Sharma directorial continues to receive heaps of praise for both the lead actors' performances. Maidaan also features Gajraj Rao and Rudranil Ghosh in pivotal roles.
The South Indian actress is all set to entertain the masses with the third season of The Family Man, co-starring Manoj Bajpayee and Sharad Kelkar in the lead.
