Vicky Kaushal is among the leading actors working in the Hindi film industry today. He has rapidly rose to prominence, showcasing his acting prowess in many films over the years. So much so that in the past few years, Vicky Kaushal has been part of films where he played the lead role, and all of them did very well at the box office.
From playing the hero`s friend in Sanju, essayed by Ranbir Kapoor, to now having a film release alongside him, Vicky Kaushal has come a long way. His latest film, Sam Bahadur, releases on December 1 and has been the most-anticipated film of 2023.
His acting journey started with the groundbreaking drama film Masaan in 2014. Directed by Neeraj Ghaywan, the film gave him just the moment where he could show his acting skills to glory. Here are three heart-touching moments from the film.
1) When he expresses his love for Shaalu
This comes at an important time in the film`s story when his character Deepak meets Shaalu for the first time. They begin a conversation on Facebook, and as it slowly progresses, Deepak meets her at a vegetable vendor. The interaction doesn`t go as planned, but Shalu is impressed by his innocence. Vicky Kaushal brings all of the innocence of first love through the shine of his eyes.
It is just a timeless moment when, during the song `Tu Kisi Rail Si`, Deepak looks at Shaalu, and she says `yes` to his proposal by releasing some balloons in the air. It is a beautiful moment, and Vicky Kaushal`s simple portrayal just makes it even more special.
2) When Deepak tells Shaalu about his background
Another moment where Deepak`s complexities as a character come out quite strongly. Up until this point, we have seen Deepak as someone who is sweet and easygoing. There are glimpses into his life at home, where he belongs to a community that is involved in burning dead bodies at the Ghat in Varanasi. They are considered to be of the lower caste.
When Shaalu insists on taking her to his locality and home, Vicky erupts in anger and tells her who he is and what his family does. It is a scathing scene that breaks your heart.

3) When Deepak mourns the death of Shaalu
In a scene that will live on forever and has already become an important part of collective memory, Vicky Kaushal is miraculous. Purely improvised on location, Vicky Kaushal just reacts to the pain of losing a loved one. His painful expression, `Ye dukh khatam kyu nahi hota be`, has become quite influential.
This scene remains one of the best from the film.
